To ensure the safety of tourists and preserve the state’s reputation as a safe haven for travelers, the Goa Police and local authorities have implemented a range of crime prevention strategies and initiatives.
One of the primary concerns for tourists in Goa is petty crime, including theft, bag snatching, and pickpocketing. These incidents are often reported in crowded areas such as beaches, markets, and popular tourist spots. The Goa Police have heightened patrolling in these areas, especially during peak tourist seasons, to ensure that such crimes are minimized. To further enhance tourist safety, Goa’s police have introduced a dedicated tourist police force, which specifically caters to the needs of visitors. Officers in this unit are trained to communicate in multiple languages and provide assistance with lost items, accidents, and criminal incidents. They are also involved in proactive patrols and community outreach to ensure that tourists feel secure during their stay.
