₹25,000 Stolen from Shiv Manas Temple in Chandigarh

In a disturbing incident, unidentified individuals broke into the Shiv Manas temple located in Phase II, Industrial Area, Chandigarh, and stole approximately ₹25,000 from five donation boxes during the night of December 27-28, 2024.

The theft was discovered early in the morning when temple staff noticed the broken locks on the donation boxes. The miscreants reportedly entered the temple premises undetected under the cover of darkness.

The Sector 31 police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Preliminary evidence suggests the thieves were well-acquainted with the temple layout, enabling them to carry out the act swiftly. CCTV footage from the temple and nearby areas is being examined to identify the culprits.

This incident marks the fifth reported temple theft in Chandigarh within the last two months, raising concerns over the security of religious places in the city. Temple authorities and residents have urged the police to intensify patrolling and take stringent measures to curb such crimes.

Efforts are underway to nab the offenders and recover the stolen amount. The police have also advised temples to install advanced security systems to prevent future incidents.
