In response to the rising wave of cybercrimes, the Uttarakhand Police have announced significant efforts to enhance their cybercrime unit. With an increasing number of online frauds, identity thefts, and financial crimes targeting residents and businesses, the police force has recognized the urgent need for specialized resources and training.

Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth has underscored the importance of equipping the police force with advanced technological tools and expertise to tackle cybercrime more effectively. The DGP stated that the force will focus on training officers in cyber investigation techniques, improving coordination with national and international cybercrime agencies, and establishing a dedicated team to investigate and prevent online fraud.

The initiative will also include public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about common online scams and how to protect personal information. The police will be collaborating with technology experts to stay ahead of evolving threats and ensure a safer digital environment for Uttarakhand residents.

Uttarakhand has seen a notable uptick in cybercrimes in recent years, with many cases related to online fraud, hacking, and data theft. By bolstering its cybercrime division, the Uttarakhand Police aim to provide better security for the public and hold cybercriminals accountable.

The DGP also highlighted the need for an integrated approach, where local law enforcement works hand-in-hand with specialized cybercrime units at the national level, to tackle the issue comprehensively. This move is a step toward ensuring the safety and security of Uttarakhand’s residents in the digital age.
