Rangat Police Seize Ganja on New Year’s Day

In a decisive action against drug-related offenses, the Andaman and Nicobar Police apprehended two individuals in Rangat on New Year’s Day for possession of approximately 67 grams of illicit ganja. The operation, conducted swiftly by the local police force, highlights their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.

According to reports, the suspects were intercepted during a routine patrol following a tip-off from vigilant citizens. The ganja, which was allegedly being transported for distribution, was confiscated on the spot. The individuals, whose identities have been withheld pending further investigation, were taken into custody under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The Director General of Police lauded the efforts of the Rangat team, stating, “This operation underscores the dedication of our officers to ensuring a safe and drug-free community.” The police have intensified their vigilance to curb drug trafficking in the islands, emphasizing community participation to combat such activities effectively.
