In a significant disciplinary action, a woman Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Faridabad has been demoted to the rank of Head Constable. This decision was taken by Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta following a departmental inquiry that found the ASI guilty of violating established procedures in a case involving a crime against a woman.
The incident occurred in 2023 when a complaint of a crime against a woman was registered at the NIT Women’s Police Station in Faridabad. The investigation was assigned to the ASI, who was instructed to follow a new format for such cases, which involved issuing notices to all parties concerned. However, the ASI failed to adhere to this new format, instead issuing notices in the older format.
This deviation from the established procedure led to a departmental inquiry, which ultimately resulted in the ASI’s demotion. Commissioner Gupta emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards any deviation from established procedures, particularly in cases related to crimes against women.
