Puttaparthi: In a moving tribute to the valor and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces, the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) of Sri Sathya Sai District have contributed ₹4,00,000 (Four Lakh Rupees) to the Soldiers Welfare Fund.

A cheque for the amount was formally presented to the District Collector, Sri A. Shyam Prasad, IAS, at the District Collectorate in Puttaparthi. This contribution comes as part of a district-wide initiative to support the families of martyrs, ex-servicemen, and serving personnel who safeguard the nation’s borders.
Key Highlights of the Event:

Commendation of SHG Women: District Collector A. Shyam Prasad lauded the MEPMA staff and the women of the Self-Help Groups for their proactive role. He noted that these groups, while working toward economic empowerment, have shown immense “Nation First” spirit by setting aside funds for those who protect the country.

District Vision: The Collector expressed his ambition to see Sri Sathya Sai District emerge as the No. 1 contributor in the state toward soldier welfare. He emphasized that honoring the sacrifice of soldiers is a collective responsibility of every citizen.

Forwarding of Funds: The donation will be officially forwarded to the Soldiers Welfare Fund (Sainik Welfare) on behalf of the district administration.

Call to Action: Sri A. Shyam Prasad issued a call to all government departments, private institutions, and the general public to contribute generously. He highlighted that such funds are vital for the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers and the education of martyrs’ children.

The district has recently been at the forefront of honoring military heroes, including the state honors provided to Agniveer Mudavath Murali Naik, a native of the district who was martyred earlier this year. This donation by MEPMA and SHGs further strengthens the district’s commitment to standing by its heroes.
