Hyderabad : Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar, IPS, called for a paradigm shift to tackle cybercrime and financial fraud during a courtesy meeting with the RBI Governor and Deputy Governor Swaminathan at the RBI Hyderabad Regional Office on December 19, 2025. He highlighted the RBI’s key role in safeguarding public savings.
Describing mule accounts as the “oxygen” of cybercrime, the Commissioner urged implementation of a mule hunter tool, creation of a centralized database to track such accounts, and stricter KYC and due diligence by banks. He also sought faster sharing of technical and banking data to aid investigations.
The RBI Governor stated that steps are already being taken to curb digital frauds and assured further strengthening of the payment ecosystem. Senior police officers from Crimes, CCS, and Cyber Crimes wings attended the meeting.
