Maharashtra Road Safety

Maharashtra’s roads have become increasingly hazardous due to the rising number of traffic accidents and violations. Despite improvements in road infrastructure, human error and reckless driving remain primary causes of accidents, with many fatalities occurring in high-traffic zones like Mumbai and Pune. Major traffic violations such as speeding, driving under the influence, and illegal parking contribute significantly to road accidents, posing a serious challenge to traffic authorities.

In response, the state government has launched several road safety campaigns aimed at educating drivers and pedestrians about road safety. These campaigns focus on promoting seatbelt use, helmet-wearing, and discouraging speeding. Additionally, the government has implemented stricter penalties for traffic violations to deter reckless driving. Law enforcement agencies have increased surveillance through CCTV cameras and speed guns, contributing to a decline in accident rates in certain areas.
