Madhya Pradesh police have launched an investigation into allegations of child labour at Som Distilleries in Raisen district. Reports surfaced that over 50 children, including 20 girls, were being employed in the distillery under harsh and unsafe working conditions. Many of the children were reportedly suffering from chemical burns due to exposure to hazardous substances.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been involved, urging for immediate action. The company has acknowledged the issue and attributed the situation to a failure by a vendor contractor, who allegedly did not verify the workers’ ages before hiring them.

The contractor has been terminated, and steps are being taken to ensure such violations do not recur.

This case has ignited public outrage and demands for stricter enforcement of child labour laws in the region. Authorities have vowed to investigate the full extent of this issue, ensuring that children are rescued and rehabilitated.
