Women’s safety continues to be a significant concern in Rajasthan, with rising reports of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of gender-based violence. Although Rajasthan has a relatively high number of police stations dedicated to addressing women’s issues, many women still face barriers when it comes to reporting crimes or accessing justice. Social stigmas, fear of retaliation, and a lack of trust in law enforcement often deter victims from coming forward. Cities like Jaipur and Jodhpur have reported several high-profile cases, leading to increased public scrutiny and calls for better protection and intervention.
To tackle this issue, the Rajasthan Police have introduced various initiatives, such as women’s help desks in police stations and specialized units for women’s safety. In addition, the state has strengthened its laws concerning domestic violence and sexual harassment, with more stringent penalties for perpetrators. Awareness campaigns, focusing on educating the public about women’s rights and available legal protections, are also part of the police strategy. Despite these efforts, challenges remain, especially in rural areas, where cultural barriers and limited police presence still hinder progress in ensuring women’s safety.
