Kerala is home to rich biodiversity, but illegal activities such as wildlife poaching and timber smuggling are putting immense pressure on the environment. To combat this, the Kerala Police have intensified their operations targeting these crimes. Special anti-poaching units work in coordination with forest departments and environmental agencies to apprehend wildlife traffickers and loggers. The police conduct regular raids in protected forests and wildlife sanctuaries to disrupt illegal trade networks that harm the state’s flora and fauna.

In addition to enforcement, the Kerala Police have been involved in community education campaigns that raise awareness about the importance of conservation. By encouraging local residents to report suspicious activity, the police aim to prevent illegal wildlife and timber trade from taking root. The use of drones and advanced surveillance technologies has made it easier for officers to monitor vast, remote forest areas.
