27 Arrested in Hyderabad Child-Kidnapping Racket

Hyderabad police arrested 27 more individuals linked to an interstate child-kidnapping racket in Chaitanyapuri, taking the total arrests higher. Among those held were S Amulya (29), an ex-ASHA worker, and several adoptive parents.

As per police reports, Amulya was deeply involved in illegally procuring and selling infants, working alongside previously arrested suspects, Krishnaveni and Deepthi. She allegedly trafficked at least 10 infants, including six girls, from Mumbai, Kanpur, Raipur, Amaravati, and Hyderabad, selling them to couples in Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Guntur.

The racket operated by buying female infants for ₹2-3 lakh and selling them for ₹3-4 lakh, while male infants were bought for ₹4-5 lakh and sold for ₹5-6 lakh. Amulya, formerly an ASHA worker, got involved after being lured by Ismail, a hospital supervisor, who introduced her to child trafficking under the guise of helping childless parents.

Police investigations revealed that Amulya sourced child sellers through social media and sold at least eight infants herself, while collaborating with Deepthi to sell 10 more. Special teams have been deployed to rescue the trafficked infants and dismantle the entire operation
