Colombo – Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome at the historic Independence Square in Colombo as he began his three-day official visit to Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan President, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, warmly received PM Modi upon his arrival, marking the start of a significant diplomatic engagement between the two neighbouring nations.

The ceremonial reception featured traditional performances, a guard of honour, and national anthems, reflecting the strong cultural and bilateral ties shared by India and Sri Lanka. The warm welcome underscored the importance of the visit, which is expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, infrastructure, connectivity, and regional security.
