In a major crackdown on illegal diversion of public distribution system (PDS) goods, the Task Force police seized 103 quintals of stolen PDS rice and a DCM vehicle used for transportation.
Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the vehicle and discovered bags of rice meant for distribution to low-income families under the government’s food security scheme. Authorities suspect the rice was being diverted for black market sale.
The seized rice and vehicle have been handed over to the concerned civil supplies officials for further investigation. Officials have assured strict action against those involved in the illegal trade.
The operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to curb the misuse of essential commodities meant for the needy.
