At least eight workers, including two women, lost their lives in a tragic explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district on Sunday, April 13. The blast left around seven others critically injured.
Anakapalli Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha stated that the cause of the explosion is yet to be determined and an investigation is underway.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu assured all support for the victims and their families. He directed Home Minister V. Anitha and local officials to oversee proper medical treatment for the injured and ensure they receive the best possible care.
“The injured are being shifted to the hospital for further treatment,” Minister Anitha confirmed while speaking to the media. Authorities are continuing rescue and relief operations at the site.
