MUMBAI –  Veteran filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has recently ignited controversy by leveling significant allegations against music powerhouse T-Series and its head, Bhushan Kumar. Kashyap claims that the music label substantially underpaid for the soundtracks of some of his critically acclaimed films, specifically citing “Dev D” and “Gangs of Wasseypur.”

In his public statements, Kashyap alleged that T-Series disproportionately prioritizes the star power of artists and actors over the intrinsic musical quality and creative integrity of a project’s soundtrack. This accusation, coming from a filmmaker known for his distinctive and often unconventional cinematic vision, has stirred debate within the Bollywood industry, particularly concerning the valuation and acquisition of music rights.

The allegations bring to light long-standing discussions within the Indian film and music fraternity about fair compensation for artists and the business practices of major music labels. T-Series has yet to issue an official response to Kashyap’s specific claims.
