Ranchi, July 17 – The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was hacked on Sunday, causing temporary panic within political and online circles. The hacker replaced the party’s display image with that of a rodent and posted a suspicious external link, triggering concerns of phishing and cyber manipulation.The breach was swiftly addressed by the JMM’s internal tech team in coordination with the Ranchi Cyber Crime Police, leading to a successful restoration of the account within hours.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has taken the incident seriously and directed officials to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter. The state’s cyber security division has initiated a probe to identify the source and motive behind the breach, with initial analysis pointing to a possible international IP origin.This incident has reignited concerns over the digital security of political parties and public institutions in India.
