At a military seminar in Jaipur on July 15, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh of Southwestern Command proposed setting up a defence corridor in Rajasthan, noting the state’s strategic position near Pakistan and concentration of army bases. The state government has responded positively and pledged to roll out a supporting policy within six months. This corridor would streamline local manufacturing, repairs, and R&D in military technology. A cooperation MoU was also signed between MNIT Jaipur and Sapta Shakti Command to bolster defence innovation. The initiative is a key push toward building a self-reliant defence industrial ecosystem in India.
