The Karnataka government has decided to cancel nearly 1.2 million ineligible Below-Poverty-Line (BPL) ration cards to ensure welfare benefits reach genuine beneficiaries.
Authorities clarified that legitimate cardholders will not be affected by this move. The initiative aims to eliminate misuse, plug leakages in the public distribution system, and improve transparency in food subsidy delivery.
By removing fake ration cards, the government hopes to strengthen trust and ensure fair access to welfare schemes.
