Kerala is facing a serious health concern as Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM), a rare but fatal infection caused by the brain-eating amoeba Naegleria fowleri, has claimed 19 lives so far this year
.The infection spreads when contaminated water enters the nose, often during swimming or bathing in ponds, lakes, or untreated water sources.
Health officials are urging people to avoid unsafe water activities, maintain personal hygiene, and seek immediate medical help if they experience fever, headache, or stiff neck after water exposure.
