A new suburban railway line has been proposed to connect Avadi, Sriperumbudur, Guduvanchery, and other fast-growing suburbs of Chennai.
The project is expected to ease daily travel, reduce congestion, and benefit nearly 4.3 million residents across these regions. Once approved, the line is likely to be completed within five years, boosting connectivity for commuters, workers, and students.
The move is seen as a major step toward strengthening Chennai’s suburban transport network.
