The Roads and Highways Department in Chennai has identified 54 key “hotspots” across the city that are prone to waterlogging during heavy rains.
To tackle the issue, authorities are stepping up measures such as improving stormwater drains, deploying pumps, and ensuring timely maintenance.
These efforts aim to reduce flooding risks, ease traffic congestion, and enhance public safety during the monsoon.
The move reflects Chennai’s ongoing push to build resilience against recurring urban flooding challenges.
