Goa is set to deploy trained elephants, known as kumki elephants, from Karnataka to tackle the rising issue of wild elephant intrusions into villages and farmlands.
These trained elephants will help guide stray herds safely back to forest areas, reducing human-elephant conflict and preventing crop damage.
Authorities believe this initiative will protect both people and elephants, while ensuring a more balanced coexistence with wildlife.
The move highlights Goa’s proactive approach to conservation and community safety.
