Karaikal Fishermen Held by Sri Lankan Navy |

Twelve Indian fishermen, including ten from Karaikal, were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line. The incident occurred south of Kodiyakarai, and a mechanised boat, fishing gear, and caught fish were seized.

The fishermen were taken to Kankesanthurai harbour in Jaffna and handed to the Sri Lankan fisheries department. Local leaders have approached Karaikal officials urging immediate government intervention for their release.
