“Exorcising the Spirit in the House: A Controversial Approach”

In Kerala, a young bride faced severe abuse due to her in-laws’ superstitions. The 26-year-old woman, married to Akhil Das in Thiruvanchur, was accused of being possessed by a spirit following a relative’s death.

With the help of a priest, she was forced to undergo a ten-hour ritual on November 2, consuming alcohol, beedis, and ash against her will. She suffered severe physical and mental trauma, leaving her unconscious and disoriented.

Police arrested her husband, uncle, and the priest, while her mother-in-law remains absconding. Her father demands strict action against the abusers.
