Counter-Terrorism Operations in DNDD

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – Commandos with the Dominican Republic counterterrorism unit known as Secretaria De Las Fuerzas Armadas Commando Especial Contra Terrorismo, take cover and regroup during a training exercise at Ciudad Del Niño here March 9. A team of Marines with U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command, trained the commandos as part of U.S. Southern Command, Special Operations Command-South’s Exercise Fused Response, which serves to improve the interoperability between the militaries and the combat abilities of the SEFA-CT.

Dadra & Nagar Haveli & Daman & Diu police have been at the forefront of counter-terrorism operations in the region, taking proactive steps to prevent potential threats. In recent weeks, security agencies have carried out joint operations with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other central security forces to investigate and neutralize terror cells. Intelligence-sharing has been crucial in identifying potential terror activities before they could escalate, with multiple arrests made in connection to a suspected sleeper cell operating in the region.

In addition to physical security measures, the police have been enhancing cybersecurity protocols to prevent online radicalization and the spread of extremist ideologies. Training for officers in counter-terrorism techniques, as well as the use of technology for surveillance, has been a priority. These efforts have helped ensure that the region remains secure, and public trust in the ability of law enforcement to protect its citizens continues to grow.
