Hyderabad: The state government is expected to initiate a formal investigation into allegations of media-related financial irregularities linked to leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Sources indicate that a detailed inquiry may soon be launched to examine suspected misuse of funds and manipulation of media contracts during the previous administration.

The alleged scam, which reportedly involves key media firms with close ties to BRS functionaries, includes concerns over inflated advertising bills, ghost publications, and misuse of government resources meant for public outreach.

Officials familiar with the matter suggest that the inquiry may involve forensic audits of media expenses sanctioned during the BRS regime, as well as possible links to personal or party-affiliated ventures.

If ordered, the probe will likely be led by a senior officer or an independent panel, and may cover a timeline stretching back several years.

The BRS, however, has dismissed the allegations as “politically motivated,” claiming the current government is attempting to target opposition voices through vendetta politics.

A formal announcement regarding the investigation is expected soon, pending review of internal reports prepared by the state’s vigilance and finance departments.
