New Delhi: The Lok Sabha on Thursday officially confirmed the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur, as tensions continue to grip the northeastern state.

Replying to a short-duration debate in the House, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the central government has taken every possible measure to restore peace and normalcy in the violence-hit state. He emphasized that the decision to invoke Article 356 was made in the best interest of ensuring administrative stability and law and order.

Shah detailed the government’s efforts in managing the crisis, including the deployment of security forces, continuous monitoring by central agencies, and dialogue with various stakeholders.

The Home Minister also assured the House that the Union government remains committed to protecting the interests of all communities in Manipur and restoring peace and development in the region.

The imposition of President’s Rule came after months of ethnic violence and unrest in the state, prompting calls for stronger intervention from the Centre.
