Mizoram has suffered through an intense monsoon season, triggering 846 landslides between May 24 and July 9, according to SEOC data. Aizawl district recorded the highest number of incidents, including landslides that destroyed homes and blocked critical roads. Lunglei and Champhai districts also reported major disruptions, stranding commuters and damaging infrastructure. Five deaths were confirmed amid the chaos. Emergency teams are working to clear debris, deliver relief to displaced families, and restore connectivity. Residents are urged to avoid non-essential travel and follow official safety advisories as rainfall continues.
