Rajasthan Eyes Tougher Penalties in New Biofuel Adulteration Law

The Rajasthan government is set to tighten regulations on biofuel adulteration, addressing loopholes in the existing 2019 Biofuel Rules. Rural Development Minister Kirori Lal Meena has announced a draft law that includes penalties like license cancellation and possible jail terms for manufacturers and retailers caught selling impure biodiesel (B‑100). This move follows recent raids—including one in Sirohi—uncovering counterfeit biofuel and fake agricultural products. The proposed legislation aims to ensure fuel integrity, protect farmers and consumers, and uphold quality standards in the renewable energy sector.
