Bhopal-The Madhya Pradesh High Court has questioned top officials including the State Information Commissioner and the Jabalpur Municipal Commissioner for not giving out an inquiry report requested under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. A person facing criminal charges had asked for this report, but the authorities refused, saying they were still waiting for “internal approval.” The court has now asked them to explain why the information was denied.
The court’s action highlights that citizens have a right to access information, and delaying it without a valid reason goes against the spirit of the RTI Act.
