A devastating new report reviewed by the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has revealed the staggering toll of natural calamities in Mizoram. The comprehensive Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) highlights that the state suffered over ₹1,291 crore in financial and infrastructure damages between 2021 and 2025.
This massive loss was driven by a relentless combination of severe landslides, heavy monsoon rainfall, the destructive path of Cyclone Remal, and unexpected disease outbreaks. The shocking figures underscore the state’s extreme climate vulnerability and highlight an urgent need for robust, long-term infrastructure funding.
