In a major move to enhance passenger safety and operational efficiency, the Indian Railways has sanctioned a ₹274 crore project for the Malda Division. This critical infrastructure upgrade involves replacing aging, conventional relay-based signalling systems with state-of-the-art Electronic Interlocking (EI) technology across 20 strategic locations.
By modernizing these vital networks, the railway aims to significantly reduce human error, streamline train movements, and increase overall track capacity. This investment underscores the administration’s commitment to transforming regional rail connectivity into a safer, more reliable system for thousands of daily commuters navigating the busy Malda sector.
