Tragedy struck Uttar Pradesh on May 13th and 14th as a violent storm, accompanied by heavy rain and hailstorm, ravaged several districts. The State Relief Commissioner confirmed 89 fatalities, with Bhadohi and Prayagraj reporting the highest casualties due to falling trees, wall collapses, and lightning strikes.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered all District Magistrates to provide financial assistance to the affected families within 24 hours. Relief operations are currently underway on a “war footing” to restore power and clear debris from major highways.
