The Congress High Command officially ended ten days of political suspense by naming V.D. Satheesan as the Chief Minister-designate. Despite strong internal competition from veteran leaders like K.C. Venugopal, the AICC opted for Satheesan, citing his massive grassroots popularity and the backing of UDF allies like the IUML.
Satheesan, a six-term MLA from Paravur, is credited with leading the UDF to a decisive 102-seat victory, ending a decade of LDF rule. He is expected to meet the Governor later today to stake his claim.
