Security has been intensified in the troubled border village of Lapangap today. Following reports of “night-time crop uprooting” and interference from across the Assam border, the Meghalaya government has dispatched an additional platoon of SF-10 personnel.
This move follows a dramatic march by villagers to the Shillong Secretariat, where they demanded protection for their livelihoods. Director General of Police Idashisha Nongrang confirmed that the deployment aims to ensure farmers can cultivate their land without fear of harassment during the peak season.
