A potential sanitation crisis in Shimla was dodged today as the Deputy Commissioner prohibited the SEHB Society workers from proceeding with their planned indefinite strike.
Invoking the Himachal Pradesh Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1973, the administration warned of legal action against any disruption in door-to-door garbage collection. The strike was sparked by the revocation of a 10% annual salary hike, but with the summer season at its peak, the government is prioritizing public hygiene and the health of both residents and tourists.
