The West Bengal government announced a massive welfare push today by approving free bus travel for women in all state-run fleets starting June 1st.
Alongside this transport facility, the cabinet cleared the “Annapurna Yojana”. Under this direct benefit transfer scheme, eligible women from economically weaker households will receive ₹3,000 monthly.
Beneficiaries already enrolled under the existing Lakshmir Bhandar scheme will be automatically integrated, while a new portal will launch shortly for left-out, eligible applicants.
