A pall of gloom descended on the Dhalai district following a devastating road accident in the Longtarai Valley subdivision.
A heavy dumper truck carrying stone chips struggled on a steep, rain-slicked slope near the Indo-Bangladesh border and capsized while reversing. Four tribal labourers sitting atop the construction material were crushed under the shifting debris and died on the spot, while those inside the cabin survived.
Nearby Border Security Force (BSF) personnel rushed to initiate rescue operations, and a police investigation into the vehicle’s structural stability is underway.
