To boost international tourism, the Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, officially approved direct Indigo flights connecting Gaya and Bangkok.

The government sanctioned ₹10.40 crore in Viability Gap Funding (VGF) to support two weekly non-stop flights for the next year.

This direct air corridor aims to seamlessly connect international Buddhist pilgrims and tourists from Thailand directly to major heritage destinations like Bodh Gaya. Officials expect the increased footfall to trigger substantial local employment across the state’s hospitality, handicraft, and transport industries.
