A devastating fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Prasad Hospital in the Brahmpura area of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, early Thursday morning. The blaze, suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit near the oxygen or monitoring systems, quickly filled the fifth-floor ward with toxic, dense smoke.
Emergency response teams and local residents shattered windows to rescue trapped individuals. Tragically, at least four patients lost their lives, and several others sustained severe burn injuries. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced an ex-gratia compensation of ₹4 lakh each for the victims’ families
