The Bihar Police have reported a significant 11% surge in liquor seizures across the state during the first five months of 2026. Demonstrating stricter enforcement of prohibition laws, authorities confiscated over 17.5 lakh liters of illegal alcohol, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 140.95 crore.
Enhanced surveillance and targeted crackdowns between January and May led to the apprehension of 56,904 individuals linked to the illicit trade and consumption. Officials credit the heightened success to tighter border checks and advanced technology, reinforcing Bihar’s ongoing commitment to a strictly dry state policy.
