Uttarakhand continues to strengthen its agriculture and horticulture sectors through initiatives that promote organic farming, high-value horticultural crops, and sustainable cultivation practices. The state is supporting farmers with improved irrigation facilities, quality seeds, cold storage infrastructure, and better market access.
Special emphasis is being placed on the cultivation of apples, kiwis, millets, spices, and medicinal plants suited to the Himalayan region. Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), value-addition initiatives, and government support schemes are helping enhance farm incomes, improve productivity, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities while preserving the state’s ecological balance.
