Lakshadweep continues to strengthen women’s empowerment through livelihood promotion, skill development, and entrepreneurship initiatives. Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are being encouraged to expand income-generating activities in sectors such as handicrafts, food processing, fisheries, and tourism-related services. Government-supported training programmes are improving financial literacy, digital skills, and access to credit, enabling women to participate more actively in the local economy.
These efforts aim to enhance economic independence, create sustainable employment opportunities, and promote inclusive development while encouraging greater participation of women in community decision-making and island development.
