The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a critical weather advisory for Uttarakhand as the southwest monsoon intensifies across the region. Widespread light to moderate rainfall and heavy thunderstorms are forecast to impact several vulnerable districts, including Dehradun, Nainital, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar.
Isolated pockets are braced to receive exceptionally heavy downpours, increasing the immediate threat of sudden flash floods and severe landslides in hilly terrains. Local administrative authorities have urged residents and traveling commuters to exercise extreme caution and strictly avoid vulnerable streams and mountain passes over the next few days.
