In a major milestone for state safety, the Punjab Water Resources Department has officially completed a transformative ₹600-crore flood prevention initiative today, June 30, 2026.
This vital project focused on strategically strengthening 132 highly vulnerable points along the state’s four major river systems, directly addressing weaknesses exposed by last year’s monsoon season. By fortifying these critical zones with modern engineering and robust infrastructure, the administration aims to mitigate flood risks, protect agricultural land, and ensure the safety of communities residing in riverine belts during the upcoming monsoon.
