Security forces have escalated patrols following the sighting of suspected unmanned drones near the Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar. The immediate security threat prompted aviation authorities to divert at least seven incoming commercial flights to alternative airports as a precautionary measure. Intelligence agencies and the Border Security Force (BSF) are conducting a massive search operation along the border region to trace the origin of the aerial vehicles.
Authorities have temporarily suspended localized flight operations until full clearance is provided. The swift response underlines Punjab’s zero-tolerance approach toward cross-border aerial security breaches and potential smuggling.
