The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has urged the government to establish a new airport within the next five years or significantly expand the existing Chennai airport. Industry leaders believe stronger aviation infrastructure is essential to meet growing passenger and cargo demand.

CII warned that limited airport capacity could affect trade, logistics, tourism, and future business investments in Tamil Nadu. Expanding aviation infrastructure is expected to improve connectivity, support exports, facilitate cargo movement, and strengthen the state’s long-term economic growth prospects.
