The Delhi High Court recently balanced the “Right to Be Forgotten” with open justice, ensuring the press retains its power to maintain historical records. While recognizing informational privacy, the Court affirmed that public interest and archival preservation cannot automatically extinguish journalistic archives.

To prevent arbitrary censorship, a seven-factor balancing test was established. Bharat Media Association welcomes this ruling, as it protects digital news archives and ensures journalists can preserve an unvarnished digital history without being forced into mass deletions.
