Indian mainstream media continues to face a severe representation crisis, with an alarming lack of marginalized communities—including Dalit, Adivasi, and Bahujan voices—at the editorial and leadership levels. This social homogeneity fundamentally skews national narratives and consistently overlooks critical rural and caste-based atrocities.

The Bharat Media Association emphasizes that true press freedom is entirely incomplete without structural inclusion. Media houses must actively recruit and promote diverse journalists to ensure a truly equitable, unbiased, and holistic representation of our society.
